Hauptaufgaben

Receives, verifies, sorts and classifies and issues a variety of excess surplus property consisting of vehicles and large items stored in outdoor storage areas adjacent to the scrap yard and scrap material including downgraded usable commodities and equipment from military and civilian agencies. Operates forklift, straddle carrier or other forklifts greater than 10,000 lbs. Drives forklift or carrier to and from designated work site. Judges weight and dimensions of palletized and unpalletized loads. Manipulates palletized and unpalletized loads. Manipulates controls to raise, lower, rotate, or shift forks of forklift to position to pick up palletized or unpalletized loads. Controls driving and loading operations by manipulating proper gears, levels and foot controls. Is responsible for safe operation and maneuvering of forklift trucks including starting and stopping engine, steering, positioning and neutralizing controls, correct loading, avoidance of over loading, and dispositioning of loads. Exercises detailed attention, judgment and case while picking up and dispositioning loads to avoid shifting, toppling or overturning and damaging truck, supplies or materials. Performs daily operator level preventive in accordance with established rules and regulations as well as applicable manuals. Employee may operate various other Material Handling Equipments (MHEs) on an intermittent basis as required by workload and authorized by leader or supervisor. Operates a variety of tools in connection with assigned duties. Reviews Disposal Turn-In Document (DTID) accompanying material and compares data against property to assure correct information including proper documentation (e.g., stock number, nomenclature, quantity, unit of issue, disposal authority code, Demil and condition code). Takes action to have incorrect or incomplete data corrected or completed prior to acceptance for processing, when feasible. Visually inspects usable property for obvious signs of condition such as dents, broken and missing parts and corrosion and determines acceptability, i.e., whether DLA Disposition Services Gimcheon is authorized to accept material or equipment. If not acceptable, rejects and returns to sender. If acceptable, directs carriers, trucks, etc., to staging area and off-loads material from conveyance. Signs for receipt of property. Determines whether an item has commercial value in excess of its basic material content. Downgrades property to scrap as necessary. Determines condition and reportability and special handling requirements (e.g., hazardous material, precious metals, security, Demil, etc.) and assigns appropriate classification instructions for warehousing. Identifies and segregates precious metals. Batch-lots material by FSC, Demil code and condition. Provides customer service. Determines if customer is authorized to turn in material/equipment. Maintains liaison with generators, provides training on turn-in procedures and assistance in completing appropriate documents. May coordinate with generators to schedule turn-ins to avoid unmanageable fluctuations in workload. Escorts authorized recipients and prospective buyers in inspection of property. Performs other duties as assigned.

WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed inside warehouse that may be hot, cold, damp and drafty and outside areas, i.e., dock areas, scrap yards, or other areas exposed to varying weather conditions. Is exposed to physical hazards normally associated with scrap yard, open storage, and warehouse operations including various kinds of material handling equipment and hand and power tools. Wears safety equipment as required. Incumbent must exercise precautions to avoid injury to/from carelessness of other workers in operation of forklifts and other equipment in the work area.

Qualifikationsanforderungen

Applicants must possess the higher level of Fork Lift Operator's license issued by Human Resources Development Service of Korea (한국산업인력공단).
