1. NSL Nato School Lodging Facility
The NSL lodging property is comprised of 100-600 external accommodations and 65 lodging rooms. The incumbent performs a variety of tasks in support of the management functions for the NSL through independence and minor supervision of the Hotel Manager. Assists with the management of maintenance and operating costs to determine with most efficient and cost-effective procedures possible. Helps to establish operational policy in all areas of the NSL and surrounding facilities. Effects changes in policies and procedures, and provides guidance, direction and control of hotel operations to achieve desired objectives. Coordinates with other departments and contractors to acquire desired information. Composes and types routine correspondence, directing to desired contractor or employee at the NSO. Translates correspondence from German to English and vice versa. Certifies forms, orders, invoices and respective documents in assisting the Hotel Manager. Receives and actions complaints from guests, NSO permanent staff members such as course directors or directly from hoteliers / apartment owners. If not resolved, directs them to the Hotel Manager and/or DD CJ-4.
Alternate Contract Officer Representative (COR) for both the Housekeeping Custodial Contractor (HCC) and for the Food Service Contractor (FSC). Coordinates meetings and specifies Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). Performs weekly inspections, ordering life cycle replacement (LCR) machinery/supplies when needed.
2. External Accommodation Reservation Services and Meetings (Guest Relations)
The Assistant Hotel Manager will assist in finding local accommodation for up to 400 in-residence students per week (up to 48 weeks per year). Liaises and coordinates for more than 400 visiting students and guests in finding lodging available in the village during special events in the geographic region. This is only needed in case there is a staff shortage and or Hotel Manager directs.
Provides professional, courteous customer service and resolves controversies; interfaces with customers, hoteliers and NSO departments. Assists the Hotel Manager with organizing and plans content for internal and external meetings with contractors, third parties, hoteliers, NSO staff etc.
3. Financial Management
Assists with the development and execution of the NSL's five-year capital expenditure budget, annual operating budget as a function of requirements balanced against available cash flow. Maintains single account ledger for budget expenses and revenue planning. Receives and accounts for advance deposits and sends confirmation messages to guests and third parties. Monitors expenses and revenue both with internal and external platforms. Prepares reports for end of month and breakfast to be sent to the CJ-8 department.
4. Security, Safety and Hygiene
Ensures compliance with hotel policies, health and safety regulations. Focuses on the protection to support NSO personnel, families and NSL guests. Ensures that NSO staff and guests remain safe and aware of updated hygiene policies and procedures.
5. Staff Management
Supervises and provides regular training sessions to NSL front desk staff, especially newly hired employees. Supports team development and commits to sharing knowledge and skills with others.
Performs other duties as assigned.

C-6:
E&T Level I: 2 years of creditable experience as defined in A below PLUS 3 years of experience as defined in B below.
Current employees who do not meet E&T Level I and who are not in the same or similar occupation must have 2 additional years of creditable experience as described in A below.
E&T Level II: 1 years of creditable experience as defined in A below PLUS 3 years of experience as defined in B below.
E&T Level III: 2 years of creditable experience as defined in B below.
E&T Level IV: 1 year of creditable experience as defined in B below.
E&T Level V: No additional experience required.
Current employees who have served one year in the same or similar occupation are qualified for the next higher grade.
Experience A: Included clerical work in an office or store, working with computers, bookkeeping, making and recording inventories, telephone marketing, arranging for events or as a cashier, etc.
Experience B: Experience in the same or similar line of work as the job for which considered. The experience must demonstrate that the applicant possesses the particular knowledge, skills and abilities required in the position. The predominant experience must have been gained at a comparable level of difficulty to the position to be filled. The amount of the higher level experience must be in a reasonable relation to the required total number of years.
LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY LEVEL:
* German level C2 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages required.
* English level B2 required according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.

This position is a Nonappropriated Fund Position.
Special Conditions for NATO SCHOOL Oberammergau:
Must be a citizen of a NATO member state and must be able to establish residency with permission to work in Germany before or within the probationary period. As proof a current German residence permit must be presented. The failure to present a working permit will lead to the termination of employment during the probationary period or any time thereafter, when there is doubt that a working permit may be granted by the German authorities.
Must present either a valid Police Good Conduct Certificate from the local resident registration office or a valid NATO and/or National Security clearance on initial appointment or reappointment after a break in service of a period longer than 6 months. Costs for the certificates are not reimbursable.
A Local National Screening Program (LNSP) background check must be initiated within 3 days of appointment in order to determine suitability for continued employment. An unfavorable result will lead to the termination of employment during the probationary period or any time thereafter, if the background check reveals that the employee constitutes a security risk.
Position is subject to rotating shift work including night, weekend and holiday work. Shift allowances are paid accordingly.
Regular & Recurring Teleworking may be authorized.
