An HR Generalist is a versatile and essential member of the Human Resources department responsible for providing comprehensive HR support to both employees and management. This role involves various HR functions, employee relations, benefits support, compliance, payroll support. The HR Generalist plays a critical role in fostering a positive workplace culture, ensuring HR compliance with relevant laws and regulations, and contributing to the overall success of the organization. This position requires strong interpersonal, communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills, along with a good understanding of HR best practices and employment laws.
Key Responsibilities:
Serve as primary Human Resources contact for employee relations matters for employees
Advise Site Leaders and employees on company policies and procedures and employment law to ensure compliance with applicable federal and state laws
Coordinate and facilitate new hire orientation and open enrollment presentations
Act as a point of contact for safety incidents at the sites and/or work with Safety team members
Manage workers' compensation claims, state & federal reporting, OSHA reporting and files
Support Human Resources Director and senior leaders in the execution HR strategies
Use HRIS System to manage employee data
Foster a positive workplace culture and employee engagement
Hold information in the strictest of confidence
Work with Human Resources Director on escalated employee issues
Other duties as assigned
What You'll Need:
Experience:
3-5 years experience in a Human Resources Generalist role supporting employees in a mid-sized company.
Supporting multi-state employees is preferred.
Experience with worker's compensation administration and/or safety administration strongly preferred
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field (or a combination of years of experience and formal education)
PHR or SRHM-CP certification preferred
Skills:
Strong knowledge of state and federal employment laws
Dedicated commitment to supporting and advising employees
Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to balance multiple priorities
Strong team-player and demonstrates a willingness to work with all Human Resources members
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
Exhibits good judgement and takes the initiative to get problems solved
Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality
Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
Occasional travel of 10% within the United States in support of our operational sites and recruiting
